Mrs. Carrie M. Watkins

Sister Carrie Mae Watkins was born on July 6, 1940 in Madison, Alabama to the late Edwenra Smith Jones and the late Fate Jones, Sr. She departed this life on February 24, 2013 at Madison Hospital.

Carrie was united in holy matrimony to the late Mr. Tolerson Watkins, Jr. She confessed hope in Christ at an early age and joined the New Hope Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America.

After joining New Hope Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America, she later moved to Cleveland, Ohio in the 1950’s. She worked for a company named TRW for many years. Carrie furthered her career and moved to Atlanta, GA, where she worked for GES as a supervisor for several years. She then returned to Huntsville, AL in 2010 until she became ill and was called home.

Carrie leaves to cherish her memory a devoted son, Curtis E. Jones of Huntsville, AL; one devoted and loving sister, Catherine Jones of Huntsville, AL; one brother, Billy Jones of Triana, AL; four grandchildren: Fredrick Warner of Madison, AL, Tasha Warner, Madison, AL, Latoya Sales of Toney, AL, Shawn Sales of Huntsville, AL; four great-grandchildren: Damien Warner of Madison, AL, Ashton Lockett of Madison, AL, Fred Warner, Jr. of Huntsville, AL, Anika Minor of Huntsville, AL; three great-great grandchildren: Chaise Warner of Huntsville, AL, Brenton Ellis of Huntsville, AL, William Ellis of Huntsville, AL; two uncles, Wirt Toney and Roosevelt of Chattanooga, TN; one aunt, Gloria D. Toney of Chattanooga TN; a special cousin, James Ella James of Oakland, CA; very special friends, Margaret, Angie, and Pearl; a host of nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 12:00 Noon on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at the New Hope Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America (28520 Wall Street; Madison, AL 35758) with Reverend Columbus Waddle officiating. Interment will be in the New Hope Cemetery. Mrs. Watkins will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time.

Public viewing will be 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 1, 2013; and from 8:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at the Royal Funeral Home.
